So this is a bit more tame than the job before. I finally got a DAC that it was evident that the output of Version 1 was distorted. I am now pulling back the gain more so that there's breathing room for the wav to fluctuate. </p><p>I remastered straight from the CD of Electra 2000 as well, hopefully this is the version I won't have to redo. </p><p>I redid the remaster for Tool's Undertow since it's such a quiet recording on CD.</p><p>Going forward I will be taming the amount of gain I add to the remaster jobs I do here. </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Electra 2000 320mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/Hum/Electra2000_23REM_320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Hum/Electra2000_23REM_320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Electra 2000 V0mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/Hum/Electra2000_23REM_V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Hum/Electra2000_23REM_V0mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>You'd Prefer An Astronaut 320mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/Hum/YPAA_23REMv2_320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Hum/YPAA_23REMv2_320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>You'd Prefer An Astronaut V0mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/Hum/YPAA_23REMv2_V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Hum/YPAA_23REMv2_V0mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Undertow 320mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/tool/Undertow23REMv2_320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/tool/Undertow23REMv2_320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Undertow V0mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/tool/Undertow23REMv2_V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/tool/Undertow23REMv2_V0mp3.zip</a></p>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-83103497908606967132023-11-21T00:00:00.000-08:002023-11-21T00:00:00.138-08:00Slip into a Compression<div>Long time no post, going to post some remastered albums and live stuff over the next few days.</div><div><br /></div><div>The first & second project I just started and finished today, is Quicksand's Slip and Manic Compression. This year is the 30th anniversary of Slip but only a remastered vinyl was issued. I wanted to alleviate this by adding these to my site for digital scholars such as yourself who love post-hardcore. Anywho, I am hastily putting these up for consumption, I might take them down cause I haven't listened to the remasters on a stereo, only thru a good pair of headphones. These will sound a bit hot, so please reach out to me if that is the case and I'll soften the 'Compression...' or remaster it again for lesser hotness...</div><div><br /></div><div>OKAY! So it's way too hot! I have to redo this for tomorrow...</div><div><br /></div><div>NOTE: this post was going to be live last night, however I listened to the remaster from yesterday on my stereo and disappointingly found out that it was clipping and distorted. SOOOOO, I will be updating some of the posts and uploads from this year to not have this unwanted noise in the mp3s. Bear with me folks, the process of remastering some of this incorrectly was due to the fact that headphone listening is not the equivalent of mastering on a stereo.</div><div><br /></div><div>This afternoon, I undid the remastering job and now have listened to the playback on a stereo. This time it sounds better than yesterday's hastily uploaded job. </div><div><br /></div><div>Enjoy this remaster of Quicksand's Slip (30th Anniversary) and Manic Compression. Thanks to Fang for ripping the Japanese imports of these that feature additional tracks!</div><div><br /></div><div>1993 Quicksand's Slip</div><div>Constant Bitrate 320mp3</div><div><div><div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandSlip2023REM320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandSlip2023REM320mp3.zip</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandSlip2023REMV0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandSlip2023REMV0mp3.zip</a></div></div><div><br /></div></div><div><br /></div><div>1995 Quicksand's Manic Compression</div><div>Constant Bitrate 320mp3</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandMC2023REM320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandMC2023REM320mp3.zip</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandMC2023REMV0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Qsand/QuicksandMC2023REMV0mp3.zip</a></div><div><br /></div></div><div></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-43913322159206844182023-06-02T00:00:00.001-07:002023-06-02T00:00:00.132-07:00Howl at the Giant MoonJust to let you know, I've been taking a sort of sabbatical on recording bootlegs. However, I regret some shows that I wish I had recorded audio. So the recent bill of Elder, Ruby the Hatchet, & Howling Giant in Los Angeles that I attended was one of those shows that I wish I did record. NOTE: my buddy's friend recorded the sets in San Francisco and shared this with me, this person also gave the OK to share with you fans. Howling Giant were fantastic as evident in this recording and played several songs that have been released already and a couple new songs to wet our palette with. A powertrio hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, stoner rock at its finest. Enjoy this set!<br /><br />Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/howlinggiant/HowlingGiant20230516GAMH.aud.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/howlinggiant/HowlingGiant20230516GAMH.aud.320mp3.zip</a><br /><br /><br /><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/howlinggiant/HowlingGiant20230516GAMH.aud.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/howlinggiant/HowlingGiant20230516GAMH.aud.V0mp3.zip</a></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-50407755524693290592023-05-31T12:00:00.005-07:002023-05-31T12:00:00.173-07:00In The Tank of AbramsHailing from the high country of Denver, CO's own Abrams arrived on May 17th, 2023 at Permanent Roadhouse Records. It was a stacked bill with Moon Fuzz as the opener and Bleak Heart closing the night out. I was impressed with Moon Fuzz, a powertrio of ladies, that included a cover of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man" that was top notch.<div><br /></div><div>Abrams 2nd show in California in support of their 4th album, "In The Dark (Small Stone Records)." They performed a few songs off this record and added another barrage of songs that they're writing already for their future-forthcoming record. The highlight of the set for me was "Better Living," a crooner track from their latest and my favorite. "Higher High" was their final song they performed for the night and was quite memorable from their soundcheck. <br /><br /><br />Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/abrams/Abrams20230517.aud.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/abrams/Abrams20230517.aud.320mp3.zip</a><br /><br /><br />Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/abrams/Abrams20230517.aud.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/abrams/Abrams20230517.aud.V0mp3.zip</a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Here's the video on YouTube: <a href="https://youtu.be/gJLonZsSKBE">https://youtu.be/gJLonZsSKBE</a></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-81222147926545878182023-03-28T21:00:00.001-07:002023-03-28T21:00:00.395-07:00Industry on Your MindThe Industry was one of Allen Epley's earliest bands that released an album in 1991 prior to his other band, Orchid, which later became Shiner. By the way, this band featured Allen on vocals and bass! Listening back to this album, it reminds me of 80's New Wave a bit and sort of running on the curtails of Echo & the Bunnymen. I received this CDr copy from Jesse a few years ago and luckily it still is playable. I remastered from the CDr to increase the highs and lows. Enjoy!<br /><br />Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/theindustry/TheIndustry-MyMind.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/theindustry/TheIndustry-MyMind.320mp3.zip</a><br /><br /><br /><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/theindustry/TheIndustry-MyMind.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/theindustry/TheIndustry-MyMind.V0mp3.zip</a><br /></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-2118497696781171672023-03-28T18:00:00.003-07:002023-07-02T16:10:13.317-07:00Out of this World Outtakes!Fancy space much? Here are 5 outtakes from the Fantastic Planet writing sessions. Different lyrics, different intros, different everything almost, etc. These were a fun listen back in the day when I think a friend found these on soulseek when it was operable. I remastered these for fidelity sake, I think I posted these a while ago but came across these recently and breathing life into them once more. <br /><br />Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:<br />REDACTED<br /><br /><br />Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:<br />REDACTEDdarshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-49726611631612229322023-03-15T10:00:00.010-07:002023-03-28T15:09:11.940-07:00Loot the Sober SinglesBoth of these soundboard live tracks were from different import "Sober" CD singles. "Bottom" has the original lyrics intended for the song pre-Rollins I suppose. "Intolerance" is the other live track that I discovered in my archives, I also remastered these and gave them a boost as well. <br /><br />Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/tool/Tool-SoberSingle.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/tool/Tool-SoberSingle.320mp3.zip</a> Links fixed!<div><br /></div><div><br />Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/tool/Tool-SoberSingle.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/tool/Tool-SoberSingle.V0mp3.zip</a> Links fixed!<br /><br />This was a CDr bootleg I bought I forget where from, but it had a nice tracklisting and of course the title was funny. "Third Leg" features songs from the Aenima- and Undertow-era. Unfortunately this recording cuts off the last half of "Third Eye," since the company who made this ran out of real estate on a 80 minute CDr. Adam misses a few notes on the beginning of "Forty-Six & Two" and "Prison Sex" is the O.T.R.M. version. I did attempt to remaster this, but there were many parts of this recording that were particularly difficult to boost without clipping or sound artifacts. The rip of this CDr is as is, so no boosts were harmed in this recording...<br /><br />Constant Bitrate 192kbps mp3s:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/tool/Tool-ThirdLeg.sbd.192kmp3.zip">http://el1011.com/tool/Tool-ThirdLeg.sbd.192kmp3.zip</a></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-31291092827243460222023-03-14T20:00:00.005-07:002023-03-14T20:00:00.181-07:001 Red Hot B-SideI used to LOVE the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In my opinion their hay day was in the 90s, but now they're an internationally loved band, and still churning out mindless hits. BUT, when my friend, Josh Klinghoffer, became the guitarist for RHCP I listened and fanboyed them once again. For roughly 10 years that he was a Chili Pepper I had to bare Anthony Kiedis's 1-dimensional crooning. Josh was great in the band, but the band had to kick him out and re-invite John Frusciante into the fold. Thus, my hate is deeper for the Red Hots. <div><br /></div><div>Another thing to ponder that my buddy, Tony, brought up, is that Chad Smith is a run-of-the-mill rock drummer. Not a funk drummer, mind you. What... IF? Aside from Anthony Kiedis being the weakest talent in the band, Chad Smith would be next...<br /><br /> This B-Side might have been released with "Gong Li" (another B-Side as well) with the "Scar Tissue" single. This is an instrumental, so fear not, you don't hear Kiedis's vox on this.<br /><br />anti-RHCP rant over, here's "Instrumental #1" w/Frusciante, Flea and Chad:<br /><br />Constant Bitrate 320mp3:<br /><a href="http://el1011.com/rhcp/1RHCP_B-Side.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/rhcp/1RHCP_B-Side.320mp3.zip</a><br /><br /><br /><div><br /></div><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3:</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/rhcp/1RHCP_B-Side.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/rhcp/1RHCP_B-Side.V0mp3.zip</a></div></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-68978181895502505032023-03-12T19:00:00.001-07:002023-03-12T19:00:00.164-07:00My Ruff Endless Summer BummerAdam Siegel of Infectious Grooves of the Suicidal Tendencies family had a band in the mid 1990's called, My Head. I don't remember how exactly I found them, maybe it was the cassingle (cassette single) they released with the song, "Carnasaur," that I instantly fell in love with. An ole buddy of mine, Daniel Pennington (RIP), had their rough mixed album on cassette and I had to have a copy of it right away. Thank you, Daniel, for having this album ahead of time. It took a while for My Head's "Endless Bummer" to be released but this recording held me over nonetheless. A few of the songs that didn't make the ...Bummer were:<div><br /></div><div>"Fearless" Pink Floyd cover</div><div>"Chain of Hate"</div><div>"Ultra Drown"<br /><br />I just realized that Endless Bummer was supposed to release in Spring of 1994, but didn't get released 2 years later (<a href="https://www.discogs.com/release/14840780-My-Head-Parts-Of-My-Head">https://www.discogs.com/release/14840780-My-Head-Parts-Of-My-Head</a>). <br /><br />My Head's version of Fearless is great, listen to this and reminisce of the mid 1990's!</div><div><br /></div><div>OH! I think I might have mislabeled a song as a demo when it was live, so the only demo maybe "If it moves kiss it" and that "Angel Bomb" was a soundboard recording. I really wished they would reissue their vinyl of all the albums because... goddamn, "Fire in the City of Automatons" was a great album. Discogs fetches those LPs for a lot of skrill. Who knows maybe the anniversary of the release would be nice to have those back in circulation.<div><br /></div><div>Looking back, I'm not sure if the recording I did at Casbah's off the board made it in No Knife's archive, maybe. I'd have to dig that up in the digital ether. The time of Flash or Shockwave media to download on all our machines for fancy interactions with websites. Shockwave Media RIP! Glad that's past us and that we don't have to update that software anymore, thanks to Apple... <div><br /></div><div>Alright, so at the time dredg.com had mp3 teasers from their debut album, Leitmotif, on Interscope Records. Symbol Song and Lechium were the first "bits" I had ever heard from this band and I loved em, albeit they were about 45 seconds long. I think it was <a href="http://theprp.com">theprp.com</a> (Infamously known as The Pimp Rock Palace) that wrote a blurb or article on dredg. And from that point on, I became a fan forever and I still adamantly listen to "El Cielo" from top to bottom a ton! Hear what I'm talking about by downloading these snippets here:</div><div><br /></div><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/dredg/dredgExcerpts.zip">http://el1011.com/dredg/dredgExcerpts.zip</a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I blame it on <a href="http://theprp.com">theprp.com</a> for most of the music I listen to. As such, I had from the site that after Failure broke up initially in the late 90s, that Troy Van Leeuwen was forming a new band, called Enemy. Again, the excerpts were enough for my curiosity to become a fan of theirs because of his association with Failure. Listen to these to imagine not getting the immediate gratification that we're all spoiled with now.</div><div><br /></div><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/enemy/EnemyExcerpts.zip">http://el1011.com/enemy/EnemyExcerpts.zip</a></div>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-75344906485546957152023-03-12T15:00:00.002-07:002023-03-12T15:11:23.480-07:00Demos of the Enemy of 1666<div>The Great Fire of 1666 was a band that sprouted feet I forget when but roughly around or after Shiner's The Egg was released. It was Josh Newton's band, but I don't recall too much about the line up of the band. I had 2 mp3s of the songs beforehand a long time ago, but at the request of a friend, another fan had the original Myspace Demo that I uploaded recently. Last night I decided to remaster the 1666 demo and share it here. </div><div><br /></div><div>Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:</div><div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/1666/1666MyspaceDemo.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/1666/1666MyspaceDemo.320mp3.zip</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</div><div><a href="http://el1011.com/1666/1666MyspaceDemo.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/1666/1666MyspaceDemo.V0mp3.zip</a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Another demo that was requested by a fan and another fan shared the files, was for Troy Van Leeuwen's Enemy. A short-lived project but Van Leeuwen couldn't pass up playing for Queens of the Stone Age. Enemy did release an album called "Hooray for Dark Matter" in which some of the demos made it on. The demo that was shared was sans the song, "Locust Fly Zone" (now just called "Locust") so I added it to the 6 songs that were submitted. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the ambient sound in isolation, but the "Vacuum" Moeller was catching up with me at the time. </div><div><br /></div><div>I dedicate this set to Josh "The Vacuum" Moeller because at the time he didn't have the scrill to afford to go FYF Fest with Refused headlining. FYF Fest promoters held a contest prior to the event to give away passes for the event. This contest was to submit a mixtape for a throwback to... y'know, cassettes! I made a graffitied-out-boombox out of construction paper with the tape and case inside said 'box! I worked my ass off for this contest and I documented photos of this art project--if only I could find those photos for proof! Quicksand played an awesome set albeit short for their headlining shows, but was great that it was in a large setting exposing their sounds to new fans hopefully that day. I have video of their set which I'll be working on soon to put up on the YouTube eventually. Oh, I remastered this for improving the fidelity of the recording. Brighter & louder! Just how mama likes it. Of course with festivals there are the occasional conflicts of certain sets overlapping during the day. Those were the days...</p><p>Enjoy Quicksand, pre-Interiors & pre-Distant Populations</p><p>Constant Bitrate mp3s:</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/Quicksand/Quicksand20120901FYFfest.aud.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Quicksand/Quicksand20120901FYFfest.aud.320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/Quicksand/Quicksand20120901FYFfest.aud.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/Quicksand/Quicksand20120901FYFfest.aud.V0mp3.zip</a></p>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-49576722182697794172023-02-28T09:00:00.001-08:002023-02-28T09:00:00.160-08:00Leader Dredg of the Circa Seven<p>A four night bill, I had already posted this set previously however I've stepped up my mastering skills [thanks to the drummer of Magna, Morgan Light!]. This improvement is a tad bit louder and brighter then the previous post of this set. The Avalon was once known as the Palace in Los Angeles, now I think it's just a dance club. I did see Mr. Bungle when it was called the Palace during the Disco Volante days (Melt-Banana opened). </p><p>I digress, ok, so Codeseven is worthy of your attention--both guitarists use the Roland guitar synthesizers that mount through the cord. A great example of the use of this particular 'effect' is Vernon Reid of Living Colour on the song "Nothingness." So the guitarists both play piano and regular rocking guitar... on a guitar. Of course it is coupled with a processor that interprets the guitar sounds to whatever one pleases. Even whale mating calls...</p><p>Even though Codeseven was 2nd on the bill, they played sprinkles of their last 2 releases. I believe that year it was around an anniversary for "The Rescue" and they were selling signed LPs at the merch booth--which I definitely partook in.</p><p>Enjoy this set!</p><p>Constant Bitrate 320mp3s:</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/codeseven/Codeseven20101106AvalV2.aud.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/codeseven/Codeseven20101106AvalV2.aud.320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p><br />Variable Bitrate V0mp3s:</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/codeseven/Codeseven20101106AvalV2.aud.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/codeseven/Codeseven20101106AvalV2.aud.V0mp3.zip</a></p>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-37918789047894325372023-02-27T21:00:00.001-08:002023-02-27T21:00:00.164-08:00PHILMharmonic<p>What an incredible show this was, if I recall correctly a bunch of tapers and videographers were there for this show. This was a 10 year anniversary show for their debut album, "Leitmotif," playing it in its entirety while opening with choice cuts from their repertoire. This show was a blur for me but memorable and held me in the moment listening back to this recording. Brings me back memories also attending The Catalyst shows of the first two albums in two nights in Santa Cruz. </p><p>I remember hearing the mp3 snippets that bands aka labels used to do to "leak" to the internet for Leitmotif. Still have those too! Wish I could afford their "Vault," alas, it is not to be. This was the last LA performance by Oakland's Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. It was not known at the time that this was the final date in Los Angeles as expectations for future releases were lingering for the band. This was roughly 12 years ago. The members splintered and formed new projects. One of which being the Free Salamander Exhibit.</p><p>An incredible performance tho by this eclectic band, fond of homemade instruments. Nils is such a funny character, with his comedic delivery of on the spot out-of-character quips. This download is version 2, prior download of this show is less punchy and less bright. I remember I was a freshmen in high school when this album dropped. It wasn't easy back in the 90s to find prog/death metal albums in the wild. It was basically word of mouth, magazines, and touring that helped Cynic gain a foothold in the pantheons of metal. Those were the days, no cellphones, HA! </p><p>Flyer link: <a href="https://scontent-mia3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/327918387_758807005768816_4128656539878722723_n.jpg?_nc_cat=110&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=8bfeb9&_nc_ohc=4916SBiYz3QAX_6ia5O&_nc_ht=scontent-mia3-2.xx&oh=00_AfCnivdu9p4S4BH15QXNkssZGQaxn6-mKCSjA3t1ei0bvg&oe=63F9E94E" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a></p><p>I caught wind of this announcement through a friend and saw his flyer for this show and instantly knew the reference. I immediately bought a ticket and shared the news with other friends about the show. Though there were technical difficulties for Cynic, they delayed the show roughly an hour. The band were prepping for their upcoming shows to celebrate the 30 years of their album, "Focus." It was also to celebrate and honor the lives of Sean Reinert and Sean Malone. Paul Masvidal, the sole remaining original member of the band admitted that some of the songs were performed with a few blemishes, however it was the first time that the new crew of Cynic played since 2008 or so. Right now, I think that year is not ringing a bell, I think they played the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles in 2010 to perform Focus and Traced in Air back to back. At least that's how I recall from seeing the zip file.</p><p>Anywho, it was a great night of seeing friends from the metal scene that I hadn't reached out to in a while. If not, don't fret, this was Brett Wilms recording as I fumbled my way to record this show myself. I used the mp3s I downloaded from Brett's ole site and remastered 'em. I was originally planning on releasing this on January 25th (last month), however priorities got in the way and I'm releasing this to the wild now, on V-Day. </p><p>This may be Shiner's longest set ever played, clocking in at about 23 songs for their Finale back in 2003. The set includes Thax's poetry reading prior to their set. The bands that opened up were if I recall correctly, the Elevator Division, Dirt Nap, & Houston. It was a legendary show and that night I bought "The Egg +2" import CD as well as the Journey Tribute CD. There was an afterparty too, elsewhere at a loft. It was pretty darn cold for a Kansas City winter evening, but it was rad to be there amongst other fans alike. I got "The Egg +2" CD signed by all minus the elusive Josh Newton who didn't attend the party. </p><p>Apologies to Jordan of New Orleans (?) cos Allen gave me his setlist that evening instead of her. </p><p>320 Constant Bitrate mp3s:</p><p>http://el1011.com/Shiner/Shiner20030125Madrid.aud.320mp3.zip</p><p><br /></p><p>V0 Variable Bitrate mp3s:</p><p>http://el1011.com/Shiner/Shiner20030125Madrid.aud.V0mp3.zip</p><div><br /></div><p><br /></p><p> </p>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-23571370353288889772022-12-20T12:00:00.001-08:002022-12-20T12:00:00.162-08:00Swerve out of the way, man<p>Night #6 of a 15 day Xmas countdown catch up time edition.</p><p>Ever since this band reunited in 2008, it's been great to see these forefathers of shoegaze grace the stage. The Roxy is a medium sized, intimate venue and is a really cool place to see such a great band. I finally got around to editing this WAV recently and it's making its native voyage here on this blog. A great record that also features guest vocals by Allen Epley ("Broken Phones") and Bill Gaal ("The Drier"). This particular set at the Satellite in Silver Lake has a new song, "Fat Lip," in typical Molly McGuire fashion and ruckus. Their sophomore release produced by none other than Ken Andrews, "Lime," is a banger of a record as well. </p><p>320mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/MollyMcGuire/MollyMcGuire20120322Sate.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/MollyMcGuire/MollyMcGuire20120322Sate.320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Variable Bit Rate V0mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/MollyMcGuire/MollyMcGuire20120322Sate.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/MollyMcGuire/MollyMcGuire20120322Sate.V0mp3.zip</a></p>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8583510955047812266.post-34682627623369460902022-12-20T10:42:00.005-08:002022-12-20T10:42:58.061-08:00Year of the Mega Rabbit<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">So I had the flu'vid and had to postpone the 15 days of Christmas of Bootleg releases. I'm going to play catch up and release a few more posts to be caught up. This would've been night #5, I think.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">After Failure broke up and On fizzled 'off,' Ken Andrews formed Year of the Rabbit and recruited Jeff Garber (National Skyline, Castor, The Joy Circuit), Solomon Snyder (Cupcakes, Dovetail Joint), and Tim Dow (Shiner, Season to Risk). The band self-released an EP featuring a Stone Roses cover ("I wanna be adored") and their Elektra self-titled debut on July 9th, 2003. This album to me sounded ever-so carefully produced, however, it felt that Ken had a majority of the writing credits--what would've been a curious exploration is if the band continued with this all-star line up. The next question would be: would Ken have let go the reins and set his crew to cruise control on writing songs and arrangements. Imagine that... something to chew on... </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">This performance of 4 songs ("Rabbit Hole" inexplicably got a large chunk cut from the recording) was at the Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood. Not too many in-stores of the alternative rock nature held there but this was a sparsely attended event. It was a toned down volume showcase because there were no drums performed, but a laptop hooked up to the PA that was operated by Tim. No full or half stack amps, but more like practice amps were used for this performance. Stripped down, bare bones, but not acoustic. </span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unfortunately, the band went on indefinite hiatus in 2004 after the label folded from being acquired by another label. Shortly after the band announced this, The Joy Circuit was born without Ken Andrews at the helm. </span></p><p>Here's a video from that very intimate performance of "Rabbit Hole."</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/MawzJ6OpPtM">https://youtu.be/MawzJ6OpPtM</a></p><p><br /></p><p>320mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/YOTR/YOTR2003Virg.320mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/YOTR/YOTR2003Virg.320mp3.zip</a></p><p><br /></p><p>Variable Bit Rate V0 mp3</p><p><a href="http://el1011.com/YOTR/YOTR2003Virg.V0mp3.zip">http://el1011.com/YOTR/YOTR2003Virg.V0mp3.zip</a></p>darshunhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00390495956173439293noreply@blogger.com0
